SANCTION : This competition is sanctioned by the National Physique Committee of the USA Inc. NPC Sanction #10376.
ELIGIBILITY : This contest is open to all women in the U.S. Those in the Teenage & Masters Women must provide proof of age at the check in. Contestants must register to join the NPC (2007 fee is $75) and membership application cards will be available at the contest. The contest is a NATIONAL QUALIFIER for all events.
HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS : The official host hotel is the GALLERY ONE FT. LAUDERDALE - A DOUBLETREE GUEST SUITES HOTEL, 2670 East Sunrise Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale , FL 33304. The hotel is located near the contest site. Every room is a suite with a kitchen (fridge, microwave), dining area and sofa that pulls out for use as an additional bed. A special discounted rate of $109.00 per room (single our double occupancy) has been secured - the regular rate for these rooms is around $200 and up. For reservations, call toll free 1-800-222-8733 -be sure to mention that you are part of the SOUTHERN STATES CHAMPIONSHIPS in order to get the discounted rate. AWARDS : WOMEN'S FITNESS OPEN : Two height classes: Short, and Tall - 5 places in each height class plus Overall. Special Awards: SPIRIT OF FITNESS, BEST MASTERS WOMAN and BEST ROUTINE (Round 2). The Women's Fitness Open overall winner will receive travel expense reimbursement of $250.00 good toward the airfare for the 2007 NPC National Championships on Nov. 16-17th in Dallas TX. TEENAGE FITNESS WOMEN : Two Classes - 3 places in each Age Group plus Overall. WOMEN'S OPEN FIGURE - Four height Classes: Class A, B, C and D -5 places in each height class plus Overall. The Women's Figure Open overall winner will receive travel expense reimbursementof $250.00 good towards the airfare for the 2007 NPC USA Championships to be held 27-28th in Las Vegas , NV. NEW!!! NOVICE FIGURE – One Class – 5 places (open to any female who has not won or placed in a previous contest). TEEN FIGURE WOMEN : Two Classes - 3 places in each Age Group plus Overall. MASTERS WOMEN OVER 30 FIGURE : One Class 5 places. MASTERS WOMEN OVER 40 FIGURE - One Class 5 places. MASTERS WOMEN OVER 50 FIGURE - One class 5 places. The overall Women's Open & Teen Fitness & Women's Open & Teen Figure will be invited back to appear at the Saturday night, July 14th show. All Fitness & Figure competitors will receive a medallion.
REPORTING TIME : All contestants must report backstage to the War Memorial Auditorium, 800 NE 8 th St. , Ft. Lauderdale , to check in at 4:30pm. Friday, July 13th. An athlete meeting will be held by the Head Judge at 6:00pm. to review the judging and schedule. There is No Prejudging. The Evening Show starts promptly at 7:00 p.m.
MUSIC : Music will be used for the Fitness Routine (Round #2). Contestants must provide a CD cued to their exact music - maximum time 2 minutes. No profanity is allowed on the CDs.
GENERAL INFORMATION : 1. Jewelry may be worn in the swimsuit rounds, 2. Thong swimsuits will not be allowed, and 3. The workable stage area is 45' long by 30' deep. It is a flat floor and there will be no platforms.
CROSSOVERS: Contestants may enter one other contest in addition to their primary event – subject to their being qualified. Competitors may not enter more than one age group competition. Additional entry fee: $30.00.
COMPETITION ROUNDS & RULES - TEENAGE WOMEN FITNESSS - NEW - 2 AGE GROUPS 13-16 & 17-19
ROUND 1/SWIMSUIT : One-piece swimsuit. Contestants will be brought out individually to do quarter turns and then compared as a group. For the 13-16 Age Group - no heels. For the 17-19 Age Group - low heels will be allowed. This round counts for 1/3 of the overall score. There is no 2 piece swimsuit round in Teen Women Fitness.
ROUND 2/ROUTINE : Each competitor will perform a maximum 2-minute routine. See further details on this round under the Women's Open Fitness Round 2/Routine. This round counts for 2/3 of the overall score. The heavy emphasis on the routine pays tribute to the effort of the competitors in creating and executing their routines.
AWARDS: The competitors will be brought back on stage in their one-piece swimsuit. After the presentation of awards in each Age Group, the winner of the 13-16 Age Group and the winner of the 17-19 Age Group will be brought back in their one-piece swimsuit with no heels for judging and awarding of the overall winner.
COMPETITION ROUNDS & RULES - WOMEN'S OPEN FITNESS
ROUND 1/ONE PIECE SWIMSUIT : In each height class, the contestants will be brought individually to do their quarter turns and then compared in a line up in their 1 piece swimsuits with heels. The judges will be scoring the degree of athleticism by assessing the firmness, symmetry, proportion and overall physical appearance including complexion, skin tone, poise and overall presentation.
ROUND 2/FITNESS ROUTINE : Each contestant will perform a routine to music for no longer than 2 minutes. Routines may include aerobics, dance, gymnastics or other demonstration of athletic ability. Judges will be looking for style, personality, athletic coordination, strength moves, endurance and overall performance. THERE ARE NO REQUIRED MOVEMENTS. Contestants will wear a fitness outfit of their choice along with athletic shoes. Special attention should be given to your fitness outfit since it too will be judged. Due to the danger of slipping, no body oil will be allowed during this round. Props carried on stage by the athlete are approved.
ROUND 3/TWO PIECE SWIMSUIT/FINAL ASSESSMENT : In each height class, the contestants will be brought out individually and then compared in a line up in their two-piece swimsuit with heels. At this time judges may ask for certain contestants to be moved and placed next to other contestants. Then the four-quarter turns will be directed so the judges can make any final comparisons desired. The judges will be assessing the overall physique for the degree of athleticism by evaluating the degree of firmness, symmetry, proportion and the overall physical appearance including complexion, skin tone, poise and overall presentation.
SCORING : The scoring for the rounds is as follows: Round 1 (1 Piece Swimsuit) 25%, Round 2 Routine 50%, and Round 3 (2 Piece Swimsuit) 25%. The heavy emphasis on the Routine Round pays tribute to the efforts of the competitors in creating and executing their original routines. In the Women's Open Fitness, the winner of the Short Class and Tall Class will be brought back on stage and compared with quarter turns in their two-piece swimsuit and heels for judging of the overall winner.
COMPETITION ROUNDS & RULES - WOMEN'S OPEN, NOVICE, TEEN & MASTERS (WOMEN OVER 30, 40 & 50) FIGURE
ROUND 1/ONE PIECE SWIMSUIT: The contestants, wearing a 1 piece swimsuit of their choice with high heels, will be brought out individually to do their quarter turns and then compared in a line-up. No thong swimsuits will be permitted. Jewelry may be worn in this round. No oil may be worn. The judges will be scoring the degree of athleticism by assessing the firmness, symmetry, proportion and overall physical appearance including complexion, skin tone, poise, swimsuit and overall presentation.
ROUND 2/TWO PIECE SWIMSUIT/FINAL ASSESSMENT: The contestants will be brought on stage individually to do their quarter turns and then compared in a line-up with other contestants wearing their 2 piece swimsuit of their choice and high heels. Each round is scored separately and worth ½ of the total score. In the Women's Open Figure, the winners of Class A, B. C & D will be brought back on stage and compared in their two piece swimsuit and heels for judging of the overall winner. In the Teen Figure, the winner of the 13-16 and 17-19 will be compared in their two piece swimsuit for determination of an overall Teen Figure winner. The same criteria for judging applies in this round as in Round 1. Each round is worth 50% of the score.
